silk comforter
When I went on holiday in China, the tour guide brought me to the underground city. What you have above the ground, can be found in that underground city. That includes cinemas, libraries and a lot more. They even have a factory selling silk comforters.
The story about these silk comforters is quite interesting. Soldiers were sent to dig these tunnels. They were blind folded and then brought to the place where they were to work. Everything had to be kept secret for fear of discovery by the enemies.
Over time, they found that these people who came to dig the tunnels developed rheumatism or arthritis. Believed by the Chinese to be due to damp conditions. They realized that the cotton or woolen blankets or comforters used absorbed moisture from the air deep in the tunnels. Constant use of these damp comforters exposed the body to so much moisture that eventually, arthritis or rheumatism resulted.
The problem was solved when they switched to silk blankets, or silk comforters.
You see, silk repels water while cotton or wool absorbs moisture.
Hence production of silk comforters began. These repel moisture. Feel really smooth and silky (what would you expect from silk anyway?)
Soldiers who were issued these silk comforters did not rheumatism or arthritis quickly like those before them.
I went to that silk comforter factory, but because I already bought more than I could carry, from the previous stops, and could not fit anymore things into my luggage, I had to pass up the comforter.
